Honey for a Child’s Heart by Gladys Hunt (Everything you need from how to choose good books for your children to encouraging them to be avid readers. The fourth edition also includes an indexed and updated list of the best childrens classics ever.)

Books Children Love: A Guide to the Best Children’s Literature by Elizabeth Laraway Wilson (This is an excellent resource for recommended books that have been selected by a Christian author. Each of her recommendations includes a description. In addition, she has grouped recommendations by areas of interest and shown appropriate ages for their audiences. She has been very selective in choosing only books most Christians would find acceptable.)

Who Should We Then Read? by Jan Bloom ( a brief biographical sketch, a listing of titles, and suggestions for age-level reading are included for each of the 150+ authors chosen for this guide.)

All Through the Ages by Christine Miller (Over 7000 living books arranged by historical era, geographical region, and reading level, from numerous respected sources, including the 2008 spring homeschooling catalogs! 360 pages)
